How To Teach a Child To Read With These Basics

Place the card with the sound in front of a and t to form the word bat.
Finally, you can teach a child to read by putting another new card on top of b to form another new word with at. Repeat sounding all the letters then sound reading the word. Never mind when indefinite and definite words are formed on this approach of teach a child to read. Remember to sound the word even if it is indefinite.
You can also make a place or a favorite book where the child writes the made up words if he/she wishes. The book should be kept aside during reading lesson but brought to the child only when he/her shows interest to learn alone. It also reminds the child about words learn in the past. Do not be surprised when they make larger words but explain to him/ her and explore the child into the field of reading

How to teach a child to read takes a step by step process for a child to grasp each letters of the alphabet and phonetics that eventually would help the child learn how to read.   • Review Alphabet letters everyday- it is important to review alphabet letters daily to make the child continuously learn the sounds of each letters. Child has the tendency to forget what he learns without follow up. How to teach a child to read, teachers and parents need to be careful when teaching the correct pronunciation of each letter. Such addition of letters “uh” in the letter “S” should be avoided to avoid confusion for the child. Letter “S” should sound “sss” like a hissing snake and not “suh”. Reviewing alphabet letters by pointing each and let the child answer the sound of each letter makes. If he misses something you should take note of the letter so you know the child’s auditory gaps and you can give more attention to it.
  • Reading Syllables- when your child has memorized and learn the sound of each letters, you can now begin how to teach a child to read with syllables. How to teach a child to read need constant practice to be able to achieve a quick familiarization of the alphabet letters and the sounds they make. Children have different learning ability. Some children may learn quickly how to read while others with slower capacity needs more direct supervision to be able to understand the process of learning how to read.
